History

When the evil being Pestilence removed Talisman's Coronet from her brow, Shaman was forced to put it on to save Alpha Flight. With the Coronet came the powers of the Talisman] and the ability to command the spirits to do his bidding. Since Michael was not the one destined to be the Talisman], it stripped away all traces of his personality and humanity. He refused to return the powers to Elizabeth] when she asked. He felt that she had abused the powers, and until she proved herself worthy, she would not have the Coronet back. After Snowbird died in a battle with Pestilence, Michael felt no reason to remain with Alpha Flight, and dwelt for some time in the spirit realm. Facing a conflict with the Dreamqueen, Elizabeth convinced her father that she was ready to reclaim her role as Talisman. Michael returned the Coronet and returned to being Shaman, also regaining his humanity. As Shaman, he began to use his medicine pouch again, with more confidence in himself than he had felt for some time.
