The eye colour does confirm it's JM, who wants Unity so she can have revenge on her molester.

Above is my review on Issue 4.
I agree with Bigbloo on this one. Which would negate the fact that whomever is behind this doesn't themselves have to be "older than the earth" or whatever.Given that this is a Fear Itself tie-in, I would assume that the old one being referred to is The Serpent. So I'm thinking this Unity thing may have a mystical angle.
So, all of you guessing the Master because he is really old...I think you have it wrong.
Did nobody notice Aurora's eyes kept changing colour, from her natural blue to brown? Anybody else notice that Heather's eyes have changed, from blue to brown as well?
Speaking of mind-controlling villains who hate Alpha Flight...anybody notice in Volume 2, issue 4 (or was it 5?), that Mesmero's victims, their eyes change colour?
Y'know, Mesmero - faced off against Alpha Flight twice, and lost both times, in Volume 1 and Volume 2. Mesmero, y'know...he takes control of many people at once, and he can keep control of them even for months at a time?
Y'know...Mesmero?
Anybody? Anybody?
Bueller?...Bueller?...Anybody?...
Sorry, i didn't see the cave drawing that way. Walter cannot transform, because (a) he was hit with and overloaded with gamma radiation of some sort and since gamma radiation was what caused his transformation to Sasquatch (if that form had not been nearby while he was experimenting, then he probably would have transformed into some other gamma-powered creature), and (b) he was drugged up.Was the drawing at Ranark cave a depiction of Tanaraq? perhaps linked to Walter not being able to transform?

I beleive, if i am correct, that the question asked was about Volume 1, was it not?
Plus, it wouldn't take him reading both the Mesmero appearances; all he'd have to do is take a look at the bios of Marvel villains who can control minds, and see in the write-up that Mesmero faced Alpha twice.

I dunno, I've always taken it to mean he hasn't read anything Alpha after Byrne & Mantlo... v2 would certainly qualify.
(This is my interpretation.)
But on that, I agree. Mesmero was around long before Alpha Flight.
...Wait, Mesmero was during the Mantlo years anyway!

My only regret is finding out after my 30km bike ride.
But has no one noticed that Heather's eye colour changed as well as Aurora's? Heather's eyes also went from blue to brown.

I hadn't noticed that, but it took me ages and ages and ages to figure out that 'Deathstryke''s eye colour in X-Men 2 was a sign of her mind control.
And I'm not used to even being able to see eye colour in comics.
That said, I do believe you're onto something.

Yes, last we heard, Mesmero was de-powered. But, just like death, that doesn't mean very much in comics.
As for Heather's eyes being green... ...maybe we need to be questioning the colorist?!? Either that, or something VERY strange is going on here!

Volume 2 contact lenses?
Yeah, I'm thinking that her eyes are supposed to be blue in this series, as it doesn't make a lot of sense for Claire to be blue-eyed but have no blue-eyed parent. I mean, you'd think Mac might have maybe wanted to run down to America and check out Madison's eye colour after she was born, if that were the case?
I'm not sure whether this is a lack of proper research on eye colours, or what...but it is adding to my confusion. If this is a goof-up, it is the first one of this series that will make me 'mildly' unhappy.
Oops, i take this back. Mac's eyes are clearly blue. For some reason I thought I remembered them being brown?

Besides which, she's a newborn (or very young) infant. They often have blue eyes, whatever their parents' colour.
I know I did, for quite a while. (Brown now.)
Also, blue eyes are a recessive gene, and brown dominant; therefore, there's no reason a brown-eyed girl couldn't have a blue-eyed baby.
Also, blue eyes, baby's got blue eyes.
OTOH, nobody knows what it's like to be the bad guy, to be the sad guy, behind blue eyes.
So, in conclusion: I like classic rock.
